Keynote speaker: Ms Dagmar Hovestädt

Dagmar Hovestadt is a researcher, author and communication expert at the intersection of archives and transitional justice. She is currently an adjunct professor at the Irish Center for Human Rights at the University of Galway (2024 – 27) and works with human rights archives in Germany and Syria. From 2011 to 2021 she was the spokesperson for the Federal Commissioner for the Stasi Records in Germany. She started her career as an investigative journalist in post-unification Berlin and worked as a foreign correspondent from California. She is a trustee and board member of Correctiv, a German non- profit media house, a member of the collections committee of the Wende Museum in Los Angeles, a fellow with the Global Diplomacy Lab and the BMW Responsible Leaders Network and a Fulbright and Burns Alumnae.

Getting there
The only direct route from Dublin airport to Maynooth is a taxi, which can be expensive, so you can also go to Dublin city and then to Maynooth.
From the airport to Dublin city
- Bus: There are a range of buses (some direct and some indirect) that travel to Dublin
city from the airport.

You can also download the app Freenow or Uber for taxis.
Taxis are obliged to take card payments, but you can also pay with cash.
From Dublin city to Maynooth
Bus: Dublin Bus C3 and X25 both go from the city centre to Maynooth very regularly
(every 30-60 minutes) and go along the southside quays. They take between 35 – 65
minutes to get to Maynooth depending on traffic and the journey costs <€4. Please
note you need exact change ready for the driver. They do not accept card payments
or give change. It will take ten minutes to walk from the bus stop to the conference
site and campus accommodation.
Train: There is regular service from Dublin to Maynooth. It costs €3.90 single and
€7.20 return for an adult ticket and takes 30 – 40 minutes. It will take fifteen minutes
to walk from Maynooth station to the conference site and campus accommodation.
The train leaves from Connolly station (it leaves from other stations too). For more

Campus Accommodation
Accommodation on the Maynooth University campus is available at special delegate rates, a code for which has already been sent to you via email. To book on campus click here.
There are different kinds of accommodation available from private rooms and suites with
ensuites to single rooms in an apartment that will be shared with other conference
participants. All rooms will be within a 5-to-10-minute max. walk to the conference venues.
As COST do not require receipts for accommodation you are free to choose exactly what
style and price you wish. However, please remember that the rate for accommodation is
included in your daily allowance which will be 211 per day and will come to you directly in
your bank account when you process your claim after the conference is ended (a notice to do so will be generated by the COST system).
You must book by April 2nd to guarantee accommodation on campus. After this date
he remaining rooms are released to the general public, and you may or may not be able to access one. You are welcome to stay before and after the conference, provisionally all the rooms are booked from Tuesday to Friday of that week, and you will be able to avail of the discount rate for all nights that you choose to stay.

Hotel
The closest hotel to the conference site is the Glenroyal which is an approx. 15 minutes’
walk away.
